Recreational Vehicles
Please read the following rules before using an off-road vehicle or snowmobile in the City of Cornwall. For safety and to avoid fines, the Cornwall Police Service and the City recommend that you transport your off-road vehicle or snowmobile on a trailer to trail access points.
Off-road vehicle rules
You cannot drive off-road vehicles (ATVs, dirt bikes, etc.) on city streets, except to cross directly from one trail to another.
You must:

Have a valid driver’s licence

Wear an approved helmet (driver and passenger)

Have the vehicle properly registered, plated and insured

Not exceed 20 km/h in a 50 km/h zone or 50 km/h in zones above 50 km/h
Snowmobile rules
You may only drive a snowmobile from your home to the trail and back.
You must:

Not exceed 20 km/h

Drive single file, on the far right side of the road

Avoid all parks, sidewalks, playgrounds and school yards

Not drive between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., except to return home from the trail

Have a valid driver’s licence

Wear a proper helmet

Have the snowmobile registered and insured
