Child-specific consultation helps include a child with additional needs (diagnosed or undiagnosed) into your program. We work with the child's parents, who must give consent and will receive all reports and be part of meetings.
Inclusive Child Care Services
Our Inclusion Services support all licensed child care programs in the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. We help programs create welcoming, high-quality environments where every child can thrive. A Child Care Advisor will work directly with your program’s staff to develop practical strategies.
We work towards two key goals:
- Helping all children take part in early years programs
- Giving child care staff the skills and confidence to provide excellent, inclusive care for every child
Request consultation services
Our consultation services support the inclusion of children of all abilities in licensed child care. This service is provided at no cost to parents or the centre. You can request consultation services online for your child care program.
We offer two types of consultation.
Room consultation supports a program in creating quality inclusive environments for all children where the need is not based on having children with identified additional needs enrolled. Parental consent is not required as this service is not child specific.
Enhanced support funding
Need extra help to include all children? Enhanced support funding is available for your program to hire temporary additional staff. This person works alongside your educators to support the entire group, helping to create a welcoming environment for everyone. Enhanced support staff
Enhanced support staff must have experience working in child care or early years programs. We prefer to hire Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) or candidates with experience supporting children of diverse abilities.
