Each year, the City of Cornwall creates a budget to fund different services and programs. The budget documents show how property tax dollars are spent on day-to-day operations and help set priorities for City initiatives. We create two main budget documents.
The 2026 General Taxation Budget that includes:
The Operating Budget that outlines daily operations, including policing, land ambulance, recreation, social housing and outside agencies funded by the City.
The Capital Budget for spending in order to acquire or improve land, buildings, machinery and equipment such as roads, sidewalks and solid waste diversion.
The 2026 Water and Wastewater Budget includes both operating and capital components for water and sewer services. It is self-sustaining: revenue from water billings, sewer surcharges, connection fees and interest on overdue payments covers all operating costs and capital projects for the year.
You can explore our budget documents from past years to see how tax dollars have been invested. Past budget documents show trends in spending, shifts in priorities and how the City has responded to community needs over time.
