To vote in the City of Cornwall, you must meet these requirements on Election Day:
If you’re a student, you can vote in both your home municipality and the municipality where you attend school. You can view the 2026 Voters’ Guide to learn more about who is eligible to vote, how to vote and how you can support candidates.
Make sure that you register to vote and ensure that your information on the voters' list is up to date. You will need one piece of ID that shows both your name and Ontario home address.
Your school support designation determines which school board you can vote for in a school board election and where your school support funding goes. Please visit Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) to check and manage your school support designation. Your support defaults to the English Public school board unless you change it.
It is important that you reflect the correct School Board information. Provincial funding is provided to each school board based on where you choose your support to be identified, meaning that if you are a public English or French school board supporter, you should reflect that. If you are a catholic English or French school board supporter, you should reflect that.
As an eligible elector in the City of Cornwall, by the end of September of an election year, you will receive a Voter’s letter by mail, which will include essential information on where you can vote, if you choose to vote by composite ballot, or New to the City of Cornwall, and information on how to vote by Internet voting. Advance Poll dates and hours will be provided. Enter your address into the polling station map for more information.
Remember to bring identification with you when you vote. To avoid any delays, please review the accepted forms of ID in advance so you know what to bring.
