Asset Management
Asset management is the planning and coordinating needed to manage the City of Cornwall's assets in a sustainable way. The goal is to provide a high level of service while managing risk at the lowest possible cost.
As a resident, you rely on the City's infrastructure every day, including roads, bridges, sewers and watermains. These assets should work as intended and meet or exceed established levels of service. Proper maintenance ensures that high costs and problems are not passed on to future residents. You can view our Asset Management Policy for more information.
Asset Management Plan
As part of our asset management, the City of Cornwall has issued the 2022 Asset Management Plan for Core Infrastructure Assets (AMP) to align with O. Reg. 588/17. The AMP provides a plan to responsibly manage $1.57 billion in core assets. These assets include utilities like water, wastewater and stormwater as well as our transportation services including road network and active transportation.
The AMP recommends that the City target annual capital spending of about $17.6 million. This level of spending would help meet levels of service and address backlogs over a 10-year or 25-year period. This table shows a breakdown of the recommended capital spending and asset replacement values.
