Marriages Licences and Weddings
To get married in Ontario, you must first obtain a Marriage Licence from the City of Cornwall, your local municipality. This licence must be issued before your ceremony. A Marriage Licence is valid anywhere in Ontario for three months from the issue date.
After you apply, please allow 24 to 48 hours for our City Clerk’s Office to contact you to schedule a pickup appointment.
Publication of Banns
For a religious ceremony, you may have the option to be married by Publication of Banns. This involves announcing your intent to marry in your place of worship. Please speak to your minister or clergy member to see if you qualify and to learn more.
