Request for Proclamations, Flags and Lights
The City of Cornwall welcomes requests from organizations, groups, and individuals seeking formal recognition of an initiative, cause, milestone, or observance that is meaningful to the community. Recognition may include the issuance of a proclamation signed by the Mayor, the raising of a flag at City Hall, and/or a temporary change in the colour of the lights at the fountain located at 340 Pitt Street.
Requests are reviewed to ensure they align with the City’s values, support community awareness, and are appropriate for public recognition. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval, and recognition is subject to availability, operational considerations, and applicable City policies or procedures.
To request a proclamation, flag raising, or fountain lighting, please send an email to the Office of the Mayor at flaverdure@cornwall.ca with the following information:
· Your organization or group, if applicable
· Your phone number
· Your email address
· The initiative, cause, milestone, or observance you would like recognized
· The requested date or timeframe for recognition
· The type of recognition being requested, such as a proclamation, flag raising, fountain lighting, or a combination of these options
· A brief description of the initiative or observance and its significance to the Cornwall community
Please submit requests as early as possible to allow time for review, scheduling, and coordination. City staff may follow up for additional information before confirming whether the request can be accommodated.
