Commemorative Tree Planting Program
The City of Cornwall offers a Commemorative Tree Planting Program to remember a loved one, celebrate a birth, honour a retiree or mark any other event you feel deserves a tribute. We have many locations available in our City parks for spring planting:

North End: Silver Cross Park, Terry Fox Park, Optimist Park

West End: Riverdale Park, St. Theresa Park

East End: Mattice Park, Menard Park, Reg Campbell Park

Downtown: Horovitz Park, Lamoureux Park

Centretown: Broadview Park
We’ll help you choose a location that meets your needs. The following trees are the best options: ivory silk lilac, european hornbeam, ironwood, hackberry, red oak, ginkgo, sugar maple, native red maple, shagbark hickory and white pine.
Apply for the Commemorative Tree Planting Program
Please email us [link to email] your completed application. Once your application is approved, payment is due to the City of Cornwall. You can send your payment to the Benson Centre, 800 7th St W, Cornwall.
New tree with granite dedication plaque
This option includes the following for $880.00 plus HST:

Choice of 10 tree species (approximately 6 to 8 feet high, 40mm caliper)

Site preparation and planting

Personalized dedication message on a black granite cube (16" width x 10" length x 4" thickness)

Maximum 4 lines with 19, ¾" block gothic letters per line

Installation of granite cube, placed flush with the ground to reduce vandalism and allow maintenance equipment access

Two-year warranty on a new tree
Please note that the City is not responsible for maintenance or replacement of commemorative plaques.

This option includes the following for $400.00 plus HST:

Two-year warranty on a new tree
Conditions
The Municipal Parks Supervisor has the right to:

Approve a tree species not listed on the order form

Approve the planting site or suggest an alternative

Buy the tree and confirm it is healthy upon arrival
Tree planting takes place in the spring. Orders must be received by March 15. Once planted, the tree becomes the responsibility of the Planning, Development & Recreation Department, Parks and Landscape. They will do their best to maintain it. All costs are subject to change.
