By-law #2025-119 (which amends By-law #2024-111) sets the rules for how the City collects, removes and disposes of garbage and recyclables. It also explains what residents and businesses must do to follow these rules.

As per By-law #051-1996, you cannot throw, place or dump garbage or debris on any private or public property. For more information, please contact the Building and By-law Division at 613-930-2787 ext. 2310.

By-law #079-1996 bans certain types of noise based on the time of day and location. Residents and businesses must follow these rules to avoid disturbing others. Any person can apply for an exemption to Council from this by-law. For more information, please contact the Building and By-law Division at 613-930-2787 ext. 2310.

By-law #2011-024 sets rules for signs and other advertising devices. It also regulates where you can post notices on buildings or empty lots. Residents and businesses must follow these rules when putting up signs or notices.

By-law #2020-040 bans smoking within nine metres of any entrance or exit of a municipal building or facility. Residents, businesses and visitors must follow this rule. For all other smoking questions or complaints, please contact the Eastern Ontario Health Unit or refer to the Smoke-Free Ontario Act.

No person or domestic animal may swim, bathe or fish within 75 metres of the following locations:

  • Marina 200

  • Grays Creek Outer Area Docks at the south of the Boundary Rd and Montreal Rd intersection

  • Lamoureux Park and Guindon Park boat launches

  • Rotary Eco Garden at Lamoureux Park south of Cumberland St

You cannot feed waterfowl anywhere in Lamoureux Park.

Why feeding wildlife is dangerous:

  • It attracts unwanted animals to your home and neighbourhood

  • Animals can become more aggressive

  • Human food is unhealthy for animals and may cause them to get sick, injured, or die
