Winter storm advisory

The City of Cornwall is hard at work planning for the forecasted winter storm that is supposed to affect the area later today. Did you know that our Municipal Works department currently has 10 Plow Trucks and 3 Loaders with plows to cover 300 kilometres of roads?

What's more, the City of Cornwall also maintains over 200 kilometers of sidewalks! Currently, sidewalks on busier roads are being salted ahead of the forecasted storm. Here are some important steps to follow in preparation for the storm:

Stay Informed: Keep an eye on local weather updates through reliable sources such as the Weather Network, Environment Canada website or local media sources.

Stock Up on Supplies: Make sure you have enough food, water, and essential supplies to last for several days. Don't forget to include medication, batteries, flashlights, and a battery-powered radio in your emergency kit.

Stay Indoors: Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. If you must go outside, dress warmly in layers and wear insulated boots, hats, and gloves. If you absolutely don’t have to be on the roads, then don’t. If you do, plan for extra travel time, and drive accordingly.
