Touch-a-Truck Returns to Lamoureux Park on August 19

The City of Cornwall’s annual Touch-a-Truck returns to Lamoureux Park on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

This free family event offers residents of all ages a hands-on look at fire trucks, police cruisers, ambulances, snowplows, transit buses, and heavy municipal equipment, alongside the city staff who operate them every day.

Event Schedule

  • 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. | Sensory-Friendly Hour: Designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities: vehicle horns, sirens, and flashing lights will be turned off to create a quiet, welcoming environment.

  • 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. | Vehicle Displays & Booths: Explore city equipment up close and participate in the Kids' Passport Challenge across 12 municipal department booths.

  • 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. | Special Performance: Live, interactive show by Junkyard Symphony.

  • Dusk | Movie in the Park: Outdoor screening of Bee Movie hosted by Arts in the Park.

Event Highlights

  • Kids’ Passport Challenge: Upon arrival, families can pick up an activity passport on-site to navigate 12 participating City department booths. Collect stamps at all 12 booths and return your passport to Booth #1 (City Clerk’s Office) to enter a prize draw! Prize details will be announced soon.

  • Movie in the Park at Dusk: To cap off the evening, Arts in the Park will host a free outdoor screening of Bee Movie at dusk. Families are encouraged to get cozy and bring their own blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to enjoy the film under the stars.

Featured Performers: Junkyard Symphony (6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.)

Junkyard Symphony is an award-winning family entertainment group that promotes environmental awareness through music, comedy, and audience participation. Using recycled and repurposed everyday objects as instruments, they transform items that might otherwise end up in the junkyard into a fun and engaging theatrical experience. Having performed thousands of shows across Canada and around the world, Junkyard Symphony has inspired millions with their message to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rock!"

From rapid rhythms and creative percussion to comedy, magic, tricks, and audience interaction, Junkyard Symphony delivers a high-energy performance that is as educational as it is entertaining. Guests of all ages can expect plenty of laughs, surprises, and opportunities to participate in this unique, eco-themed show.
