STATEMENT: Total Solar Eclipse 2024

Today, residents and visitors to Cornwall will share in a historic experience: a rare and awe-inspiring total solar eclipse.

This celestial phenomenon holds significant historical and educational importance, offering a unique opportunity for our community to witness a wonder of the universe and deepen our understanding of science and astronomy.

The City of Cornwall encourages everyone to safely commemorate this event by engaging in educational activities, attending organized events (with certified eye protection), participating in discussions about the science behind solar eclipses, and learning about the cultural significance of eclipses throughout history.

We hope visitors to our city enjoy their day safely and thank visitors for supporting our local businesses while here. Cornwall has so much to offer; we hope that you will return well before the next total solar eclipse, which is not expected for more than 80 years. 

This eclipse is an opportunity for us all to come together as a community to celebrate this remarkable event, to learn, to appreciate, and to marvel at the greatness of our universe while reflecting upon our place in it.
