NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT CITY OF CORNWALL APPLICATION FOR MINOR VARIANCE – FILE # A-25-26
Take notice that an application under the above file number will be heard by the Committee of Adjustment on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, at 05:00 p.m. at Council Chambers at City Hall, 360 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario K6J 4P6.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider an application for a minor variance from the provisions of the City of Cornwall Fence By-law 2008-040 as amended, for the lands legally described as Lot 8, Plan 148, municipally known as 222 Pescod Avenue.
The requested variances are to accommodate the development of a privacy fence in the side yard and the rear yard of the property.
The proponent is seeking relief from the Fence By-law for the following:

Section 5.5 – To permit a maximum fence height of 7 feet in the side yard abutting a street (along Queen Street) whereas the Fence By-law permits a maximum height of 5 feet for a fence in a rear or side yard abutting a street.

Section 5.5 – To permit a maximum fence height of 7 feet in the rear yard abutting a street (along Queen Street) whereas the Fence By-law permits a maximum height of 5 feet for a fence in a rear or side yard abutting a street.

Section 5.7 a) I. – To permit a maximum fence height of 7 feet within 120 inches (10 feet) of the intersection of a driveway (abutting property’s driveway next to subject property’s rear yard) and a property line whereas a maximum height of 36 inches (3 feet) is permitted.
