EPIC ECLIPSE: KEEPING APRIL 8 SAFE AND FUN
CORNWALL – March 20, 2024 – On Monday, April 8, 2024, Cornwall will be in the path of totality of a total solar eclipse, a spectacular and rare celestial event. The next is not expected for another 80+ years.
As the moon aligns perfectly with the sun, three minutes of total darkness will be achieved (despite the late afternoon timing – approx. 3:24-3:26pm EDT). During this time, and immediately before and after, looking at the sun can damage your eyesight – perhaps permanently.
A total solar eclipse is a rare occurrence that comes with risk. The City of Cornwall is taking steps to mitigate risks to employees, residents and visitors who may travel to the city to observe.
Visit www.Cornwall.ca for eclipse safety tips and the latest information on ways the region will mark this important event.
