Cornwall Fire Services Invites Community to 2026 Fire Prevention Week Open House

Cornwall Fire Services is opening its doors and welcoming families and neighbors from across the community to a fun-filled Public Open House on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Fire Headquarters (705 Tollgate Road West).

This free event offers a great opportunity for all ages to meet local first responders, check out emergency vehicles up close, and enjoy exciting live safety demonstrations at the training center. Highlights of the day include auto extrications, a simulated building fire demo, and live working-dog demonstrations by the OPP and CBSA K9 units.

To make the afternoon even better, attendees can enjoy a free BBQ lunch served by the Cornwall Optimist Club, tasty popcorn from Happy Popcorn, great music from DJ Wheelz, and games for kids. Community members are also encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or cash donation to help kick off Sparky’s Toy Drive and bring early holiday cheer to local families in need.

Cornwall Fire Services is excited to host this event alongside friendly partners from across the region, including Cornwall Police Services, OPP, OPP K9 Unit, RCMP, CBSA, CBSA K9 Unit, Paramedic Services, Akwesasne Fire Services, Cornwall By-Law Services, and CN Police.

“Fire Prevention Week is about helping residents take simple, practical steps to keep themselves and their loved ones safe,” said Frank McNeely, Chief Fire Prevention Officer. “Our open house gives families a chance to meet local first responders, see emergency response in action and learn important fire safety lessons in a fun, welcoming environment.”

To ensure safe and smooth traffic around the station, general public parking is available nearby at Home Depot (1825 Brookdale Road) and the Best Buy parking area (501 Tollgate Road). On-site parking at 705 Tollgate Road West is strictly reserved for vehicles with valid accessible parking permits.
