CFS responded to an industrial fire
CORNWALL, ON – March 26th, 2024 - Cornwall Fire Services (CFS) responded to an industrial fire at 820 Campbell St at Done Right Roofing on March 25th, 2024. We received several 911 calls at 4:15 pm indicating heavy smoke and fire in the area of Campbell and Copeland St.
Cornwall Fire Services initially responded with 10 firefighters and 4 vehicles, a 2nd alarm was activated which brought in 8 additional off duty firefighters and several additional vehicles to the scene.
First arriving firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions, with fire rapidly spreading throughout the structure, all occupants of the building were able to evacuate safely prior to firefighters arriving. There have been no reported injuries as a result of this fire.
Firefighters worked diligently to bring this aggressive fire under control, firefighters worked throughout the night to extinguish hot spots. Damage was mitigated to the building itself with no spread to surrounding structures.
Several agencies were called in to assist including Cornwall Police Service, Cornwall SDG Paramedic Services, Cornwall Electric, City of Cornwall Municipal Works and Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
As always, Deputy Chief Woods urges residents to prioritize fire safety and encourages everyone to regularly inspect their smoke alarms, develop and practice a fire escape plan, and be vigilant in preventing potential fire hazards.
Cornwall Fire Services remains on scene for investigative purposes to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
