Summer Playground Program
Monday July 4th – Friday August 12th
Trained Park Leaders provide FREE fun and exciting play opportunities for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years at ten park locations throughout the City. (Please see the park locations below). The day will be filled with active games, sports, music, crafts, fun and laughter each and every day, you will not want to miss a day!!
The program runs from Monday July 4th – Friday August 12th on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no supervision at the neighborhood park over the lunch hour. Parents and guardians are welcome to come with their children to the park for the activities. Children under the age of 5 are welcome but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. There are exciting activities scheduled each and every day, so be sure to click here to register online or see the Park Leader any time this summer.
Summer Playground Program Registration - Now open online and in person at the park!!
All participants must be registered for the program through the City's online booking system or in-person at the park in order to attend.
Special Circumstances -Some Summer Playground Program locations do not have access to water and/or washroom facilities. The program will close during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, severe weather such as thunder and or lightning and when the humidex reaches 40oC. Program participants will be sent home due to any unsafe weather conditions. These decisions only affect the Summer Playground Program and not other recreation programming.
Participants are to bring sunscreen, hat, water bottle, running shoes, and comfortable clothing

Open House Day – Thursday June 30th, 2022 - Park Leaders, program planners and volunteers will welcome children and their parents at each of our park locations on Thursday June 30th, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon and from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Leaders will be on the park to meet the kids, assist with registration, answer any questions and of course organize some awesome activities for all in attendance.

Volunteer Opportunities |
Looking for a place to volunteer for the summer? Do you enjoy spending your days outside and being with kids? Then the Summer Playground Program is the perfect volunteering opportunity for you! As a volunteer, you will be required to take part in a training session (max. 2 hours) before commencing your hours on the park. This session will ensure that you will understand your responsibilities as a volunteer. Once your training has been completed, you will be assigned to a park location based on your application form. You will be responsible for helping to make our playground program, its day-to-day activities and special events for children a success. This will be done by:
