2021 Summer Playground Program

All participants must be registered for the program through the City's online booking system or in-person at the park in order to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions and protocols. See below for registration details.

The program operates for six (6) weeks on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday July 5 to Friday August 13. Trained park leaders provide fun and exciting play opportunities for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Active and quiet games, sports, songs, and crafts are offered daily. For information on volunteer opportunities and the Volunteer Application Form, please see below.

Parents and guardians are welcome to come with their children to the Park for the activities. Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. There are exciting activities scheduled each and every day, so be sure to register for before it's too late!

Please Note: Participants of the program must be able to access their homes at all times during the program hours. Program sites do not all have access to water or washroom facilities. The program will close during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, severe weather such as thunder and or lightning and when the humidex reaches 40oC. This decision only affects the Summer Playground Program.

The on-going COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in changes to the way participant's enter the park. ALL participants will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon entry to the park. Participant's will be denied entry if they are experiencing any symptoms. Participant's will be asked to leave the park if they develop symptoms of COVID-19 throughout the day.

Participants are to bring sunscreen, hat, water bottle, running shoes, and comfortable clothing (for sports).

This will be done by:

  • Showing up to your park regularly and on time
  • Making sure to follow the programs
  • Being patient with everyone

Some of your duties will include:

  • Conducting COVID-19 screening protocols upon participant's entry to the park
  • Setting up activities and crafts
  • Assisting with supervision of the children on the park
  • Providing positive goals and encouraging achievements
  • Creating a safe and positive environment
