Cornwall has an impressive public library with an extensive collection of English and French books, magazines, audio, video, and digital formats for research and leisure use. The library also offers many general interest and educational programs.

The library has free wi-fi and public computer workstations with Internet, word processing and special subscription databases. Laptops are available for in-house use. The library catalogue is accessible via the library’s web site by clicking here


Services available at the library
Information Services staff help library users find materials of interest, respond to reference questions and provide reading suggestions in person, by telephone or email.
The Young Adult and Children's department (YAC) offers age appropriate reading, activities, and programming that promotes school readiness, literacy, and a love of reading. YAC staff will answer questions, help find materials for homework, or simply suggest a good book to read.

Other library services include:

  • A fully accessible library building with accessibility computer workstations, a CCTV reader, large print books and recorded books on tape and CD.
  • Visiting Library Service for those physically unable to come to the Library.
  • Interlibrary Loan Service to obtain books from other libraries.
  • Self check-out stations.
  • Microfilm readers with scanner and printer.
  • Photocopying, faxing printing and scanning.
  • A DVD viewing station.
  • Community Information bulletin boards and display cases.
  • Meeting rooms available at competitive rates


Special collections include:

  • Literacy learning materials for new adult readers and for tutors assisting adult learners.
  • The Cornwall Room - books, archival papers and photographs of local historical interest operated in partnership with local history and genealogy agencies and volunteers.

Monday to Thursday - 9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday - 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday - 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
(From the Sunday after Labour Day to the Sunday before Mother's Day)
