Updates to Cornwall's parking program start October 12

The City of Cornwall provides on-street and lot parking downtown and in Le Village. You can pay for parking using the HotSpot app, pay parking tickets online, and order day-use and 24-hour permits online. Learn more about rules and fines.

Where to Park

How to Pay for Parking

Depending on where you park, you will have access to a pay-by-plate machine or a parking meter. You can also use the HotSpot app anywhere in the City.

Parking costs $1.70 per hour, with a maximum stay of 12 hours. Parking fees are charged in pay-by-plate stalls and lots Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Learn about fines and parking tickets.

Free 15-minute parking stalls are available throughout the City (use the interactive map above to find them). These stalls are surrounded by a yellow line and indicated by a sign.

If you see meters or pay-by-plate machines that aren't working properly, contact Building and By-law at 613-930-2787 ext. 2225.

 Overnight parking service

The new overnight service offers parking at municipal lots from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. any day of the week. The fee is $3 and can be paid using the HotSpot app or a Pay-by-Plate machine.

Overnight parking is permitted in the Warrington Brown parking lot (behind Kastner’s at 39 First Street East) and in Freddy's lot (east of the Cornwall Police Service building at 342 Montreal Road). Users should be sure they park in designated stalls.

Paid parking at Lamoureux Park boat launch

Boaters parking their trailers at the Lamoureux Park boat launch must pay for parking.

Payment can be made by...

  1. Ordering a daily, monthly or seasonal permit online. When purchasing permits online, please have license plate information and credit card ready. Permit holders may register a maximum of three plates. At least one must be a trailer.
  2. Purchasing a daily permit at the on-site parking machine.
  3. Purchasing a daily, monthly, or seasonal permit on-line at https://cornwall.aimsparking.com/
  4. Purchasing a permit at the Civic Complex’s Building and By-Law department on the 2nd floor at 100 Water Street East. (Mon-Fri only 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Cost for boat trailer parking permits is $10 a day, $40 a month, or $100 a season.

Boat trailers and the vehicles towing them must park in designated boat trailer areas. Cars will not be required to pay for parking and must not park in boat trailer areas. The area in question is the east parking area behind the RCAF wing. Overflow parking on the grass is permitted but parking fees must still be paid. Please click here to view a map for details about the location.

Revenues from boat launch parking fees contribute to boat launch improvements. For instance, in 2020, the City installed new docks at Lamoureux Park and Guindon Park boat launches.

 Accessible Parking

A registered accessible parking permit must be displayed in a vehicle using any designated accessible parking space. These spaces are signed with a regulation wheelchair symbol.

Applications and eligibility criteria for Accessible Parking permits are available from Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Offices (operated by the Ministry of Transportation) or Service Ontario.

Parking in one of these designated spaces without this permit could result in a $300 fine.

Residents with an Accessible Parking Permit are allowed to park in metered areas and municipal parking lots for free for a maximum of three hours.

 Free Parking for Veterans

Veterans with special license plates from the Ministry of Transportation can park free in Cornwall, both in on-street metered stalls and in municipal parking lots provided at the time of parking, was driven by a Veteran or a Veteran was a passenger therein.  However, Veterans parking is not permitted in designated permit stalls (for example 24hr parking).
