Licensed child care is government-regulated early learning and care that takes place in child care centres.  Child care centres provide care for children in a group setting. 

All licensed child care centres are regularly visited and inspected by staff from the Ministry of Education and are licensed under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. A license means that the child care program has met the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 standards for children's health and safety, nutrition, equipment, appropriate programs and activities, staff training and more.
