Background
The City is building a new recreational path from Pitt Street to Edgar Street. The new path will act as a link to existing trails and bicycle lanes in the area.
What to Expect During Construction
Here’s how the construction of the new recreational path will work:
- Excavating
- Grading and Placing Granular as a New Base for the New Recreational Path
- Installation of a Cross Culvert for Drainage
- Paving the Recreational Path (Placing New Asphalt)
- Painting the Path to Define Directional Lanes
- Restoration (Placing Topsoil and Grass Seed or Granular Material Where Required)
Before the work starts, you may see utility companies (Enbridge, Bell, etc.) in the area. They are moving infrastructure they own to accommodate the new path. If you have any service disruptions, please contact them directly.
There may be days where you don't see the Contractor on site in between the different stages (1-6). This is a normal part of the process. The Contractor has many crews that do different types of work.
The construction of the new path is part of the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. If you would like to learn more about it, click here.
