 Watermain Relining on Pescod Map

Background

On the South side of Pescod Avenue from Dover Road to Queen Street, there is 210 linear meters of existing 150 mm diameter cast iron watermain. The existing watermain will be relined to create a new watermain within the existing one.

What to Expect During Construction

As a part of construction, the residents can expect to see access ‘pits’ at the following locations throughout Pescod Street:

  • Dover Road (South West quadrant of the intersection)
  • Pescod Avenue (South West quadrant of the intersection)
  • North side of 221 Pescod Avenue (7 linear meters to the East of Pescod Avenue)
  • Pescod Avenue (South West quadrant of the intersection)
Temporary Water Service

Water services will be affected during the construction period. The Contractor will be installing a temporary watermain to service properties; short-duration service interruptions will occur when the temporary water system is installed. You will receive notices of the interruptions a minimum of 24hrs in advance, unless the disruption is a result of unforeseen circumstances, i.e. a watermain break. Notices will also the 'Construction Notices' section of this webpage.  Residents that subscribe to the page will receive notifications of notices and project updates via email. Please click the green 'Subscribe to this page' button below to subscribe to the page and receive project updates.  New installation of the temporary water supply may result in water service issues such as reduced pressure and increased water temperature. Our apologies for the inconvenience. If your water is warm, run taps until the water is cold. If the issue doesn’t improve, contact the City or Contractor via the contact information provided in the construction notice.

Road and Driveway Access

All reasonable efforts will be made to maintain vehicle access to driveways. Temporary interruptions may occur for access purposes during construction and while construction vehicles maneuver. Access will be restored as quickly as possible. Pedestrian access to all homes and businesses will be maintained during construction. Where the temporary water supply system crosses driveways, the Contractor will install a temporary gravel ramp over the piping for access purposes.
