Background
The resurfacing of Westmooreland Avenue, from Leonard Avenue to Dover Road includes the removal of the surface course of asphalt and paving 50mm of new asphalt on the roadway.
What to Expect During Construction
The top layer of asphalt will first be removed by a milling machine. Paving works will then occur within 10 working days of the surface course of asphalt having been removed. The project also involves curb replacement from Leonard Av to Queen St on the east and west sides of the roadway.
It has been identified that a section of storm sewer is in poor condition and is in need of repair between Princess St and Dover Rd. The sewer repair will take place before the road is paved. The city will also be undertaking no-corrode lateral replacement on all three blocks of Westmooreland Avenue in order to prevent future road cuts in the road surface.
Road and Driveway Access
The City anticipates that some road closures will be needed to complete the work safely. Access to driveways may be impacted during the construction period; however, access will be restored as quickly as possible. Pedestrian access to all homes and businesses will be maintained during construction.
