Temporary Skilled Labourer

Our Infrastructure & Municipal Works Department is looking for temporary Skilled Labourers. The position will assist with restorations, excavations, asphalt work, concrete work, watermain and sewer repairs as well as litter and garbage collection, parks maintenance and special event services. This position may also be required to operate a snowplow or sidewalk machine in the winter months. This position may require the individual to work shifts that would include days, evenings, nights, and some weekends.

Candidates for this role must have the following:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent;

- Must have a unrestricted G license with the ability to obtain a D“Z” license within 8 months;

- vaccination against COVID-19.

The ideal candidate will have construction and general labourer experience, be able to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrate excellent interpersonal, customer service and public relations skills; and must be able to work all required shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

The City offers a competitive hourly rate of $22.23 to start per hour $24.10 after 3 months.

Note: D“Z” training will be provided by the City with the expectation you will complete the training and then be tested through Service Ontario to obtain your D“Z’ license.

Proof of Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required prior to starting employment with the City of Cornwall.
