Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Planning, the Supervisor, Projects & Asset Management is responsible to lead and mentor the project management team overseeing the delivery and construction for municipal infrastructure capital projects, including tender specification management, utility coordination, scheduling, and construction oversight for all municipal infrastructure projects. You will also manage the asset management staff responsible for linear and point asset management planning, and the development of capital project forecasts. As an innovative leader, you shall lead by example, institute best practices, and inspire your team to continuously learn and grow.
Likewise, the Supervisor, Projects & Asset Management shall have effective written and oral communication skills, the ability to organize a team, manage and measure work, and be comfortable working with, communicating with and meeting with the Public, Approval Agencies, Consultants and Contractors. The ideal person shall be a relentless pursuer of self-development and will also know how to coach and develop others to a similar standard.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a Degree in Civil Engineering, a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or other relevant equivalent.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with the Province of Ontario, an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) with the required technical experience, a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) in good standing with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists & Technicians (OACETT) or equivalent.
- Additional professional training in Project Management and/or Asset Management would be considered a benefit.
- Capable of supervising a technical team undertaking construction supervision, contract administration and asset management planning.
- Have the skills to write RFPs, plan, prepare specifications, schedule, administer and oversee construction of municipal roadways, watermains, sewers, pumping stations, and similar linear infrastructure, with a working knowledge of applicable legislation.
- Able to complete construction documentation, establish compliance with construction specifications, prepare progress payments, etc.
- Ability to review, track and prepare reports on the financial status of projects.
- Have a minimum of three (3) years experience related to municipal construction projects (watermains, sewers, roadways, etc.), and municipal asset management planning.
- Understanding of all relevant asset management legislation and regulations.
- Implement the City’s linear and point asset management plan through the identification and management of projects and the collection, management, and analysis of data.
- Supervise and oversee staff to develop capital project forecasts.
- Competency with Microsoft applications including Excel (advanced), Word and PowerPoint.
- Competency with Autodesk Civil 3D would be considered an asset.
- Competency with various survey equipment (Trimble GPS, level, etc.).
- Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Class G Driver’s License.
The City of Cornwall offers a starting annual salary of $102,187 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
