Overview

The Corporation of the City of Cornwall is seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Transit Division. Cornwall Transit is the public transportation provider for the City of Cornwall and transports over 800,000 riders annually. Cornwall Transit offers a family of services Monday to Saturday. The services include conventional bus service with 7 regular routes operating on a 30 minute frequency in the daytime and a 60 minute frequency in the evenings until 11:45 pm, and industrial routes that service the Cornwall Business Park, Monday to Friday during peak times and late evening. Cornwall Handi-Transit provides up to 40,000 door to door trips to persons with disabilities.

The Transit Shift Supervisor is responsible in ensuring the proper execution of the following:

  • On the road operations, which includes supervising, coordinating, and supporting bus operators with daily tasks.
  • Respond and investigate complaints from the public regarding transit operations; resolves problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Respond to vehicular collisions involving Transit vehicles, pedestrian, and on-board passenger incidents. Writing concise and accurate collision and incident reports.
  • Implement, maintain, and support new technology systems retrofitted to all fleet vehicles. Promote advance system processes in improving services.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • One-year formal training (CUTA, M.T.O. Transit courses)
  • A minimum of 3 years recent related experience in the transportation field with direct supervisory experience
  • Strong computer skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal and communication skills and excellent public relations skills
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Labour and M.T.O. legislations
  • Possess and maintain a valid class BZ Driver’s License
  • Familiar with bus cameras, on-board voice annunciation and electronic fareboxes
  • Knowledge of A.D.O.A. transportation & customer service standards & Skilform training and knowledge of RouteMatch Para-Transit Dispatch program will be considered assets.
  • Core competencies for the position include the ability to empathetically support the people you lead, effectively delegate responsibilities instead of tasks, and a relentless communicator that ensures everyone understands the expectations and standards.
  • Fully bilingual in French and English would be considered an asset.

The City of Cornwall offers a starting annual salary of $82,626 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
