Shift Supervisor

The Corporation of the City of Cornwall is seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Transit Division. Cornwall Transit is the public transportation provider for the City of Cornwall and transports over 800,000 riders annually.  Cornwall Transit offers a family of services Monday to Saturday. The services include conventional bus service with 7 regular routes operating on a 30 minute frequency in the daytime and a 60 minute frequency in the evenings until 11:45 pm, and industrial routes that service the Cornwall Business Park, Monday to Friday during peak times and late evening. Cornwall Handi-Transit provides up to 40,000 door to door trips to persons with disabilities.

The Transit Shift Supervisor’s position is part of a team effort that is responsible for the daily allocation of vehicle and driver work assignments for conventional and Handi-Transit services, on street operations, accidents and incident investigations, monitoring radio communication and automatic voice annunciation, preparing and presenting training programs, and related administrative functions. The Supervisor also works with coordinators to ensure timely, safe transportation of persons with disabilities. 

Our ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in a related field, plus the equivalent of one-year formal training (CUTA, M.T.O. Transit courses); Must possess a minimum of 3 years recent related experience in the transportation field with direct supervisory experience;  have strong computer skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal and communication skills and excellent public relations skills; have knowledge of Ministry of Labour and M.T.O. legislations; possess and maintain a valid class BZ Driver’s License; be familiar with bus cameras, on-board voice annunciation and electronic fareboxes. Knowledge of A.D.O.A. transportation & customer service standards & Skilform training and knowledge of RouteMatch Para-Transit Dispatch program will be considered assets. Bilingualism (English & French) will also be considered an asset.

The Corporation offers an annual salary starting at $81,006 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
