Supervisor, Richelieu Child Care Centre (Contract)

The City of Cornwall is seeking a Supervisor for our directly operated Richelieu Child Care Centre. Reporting to the Child Care Division Supervisor, the Supervisor is responsible for providing support, coaching and guidance to the Registered Early Childhood Educators who work in the classrooms, as well as other support staff. The role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the child care centre to ensure all Ministry and Health requirements are maintained as well as to liaise with parents, the Ministry of Education, the local Health department and other community partners. The Supervisor will monitor the daycare budget; will participate in annual licensing visits from the Ministry and will complete other duties as assigned. 

Our ideal candidate must possess a post secondary degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, be a current member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario and have a minimum of 5 years of child care experience; must be up-to-date with immunizations as per the Eastern Ontario Health Unit requirements; must have leadership experience; must have effective communication skills; possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, decision, delegation, and problem solving skills; have strong computer skills; experience with budgets and licensing; strong working knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014; previous Supervisory experience and knowledge of CCLS and OCCMS will be considered assets.  The successful candidate must also have strong time management skills in order to meet competing demands and determine priorities.

The Corporation of the City of Cornwall offers a competitive starting wage of $40.03 per hour. The contract will be until the end of December, 2020 with the possibility of extension.
