Manager, Municipal Works

The City seeks a progressive leader to serve as the Manager for Municipal Works. Reporting to the General Manager of Infrastructure and Municipal Works, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing operational functions of the Municipal Works division, which includes roadway infrastructure, water distribution, waste water collection, parks and landscape, and fleet maintenance This will include establishing objectives, managing the annual budget and recommending operational and capital expenditures. The main responsibility of the role is to efficiently engage and utilize all personnel, materials, and equipment to their highest capacity in accordance with Municipal policies, procedures and regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a role model for the City of Cornwall’s values of leadership, integrity, collaboration, inclusiveness, and diversity. Candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of leadership and operational experience within unionized environments, along with post-secondary education in a related field. Familiarity with applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation, acts & regulations, industry standards and best practices is required. Applicants must also possess excellent interpersonal skills including communication with the public, peers, superiors, and Council and be experienced in mentoring, coaching, and leading a dynamic team. With Cornwall’s rich history in both official languages, bilingualism will also be considered as an asset.
