Maintenance Technician - Industrial Electrician

Our Environmental Services department is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Industrial Electrician. Reporting to the Wastewater Plant Supervisor; install/maintain all electrical and mechanical equipment at the Wastewater Treatment Plant following the z4562-21 electrical standards; conduct and undertake all necessary repairs in accordance with the preventative maintenance program and/or as needed basis; Maintain CSS electrical logs for the Electrical Safety Authority; assist Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators with special projects and routine operational duties; conduct other related duties as necessary.

Some of the responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Repair and maintenance of 120-volt lighting systems.
  • Repair and maintenance 600 v motor control centers.
  • Maintain and inspect plant power distribution systems.
  • Maintain plant emergency generators.
  • Repair and maintain gas fired boilers.
  • Maintain HVAC systems.
  • Review and update electrical prints.
  • Responsible for overseeing all electrical upgrades in the plant to make sure all electrical codes are met.
  • Assist the operation department with their routine work and yearly inspections of the facility.
  • Complete 40 hours of training per year as per wastewater licensing.

The requirements for the role are:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent. Must possess an interprovincial Industrial Electrician License 442.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Red Seal Licensed Industrial 442 Electrician in Water/Wastewater Treatment environment or similar process.
  • Demonstrate mechanical/electrical aptitude and abilities in the areas related to The Industrial Electrician Trade.       
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley drives.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley PLC’s.
  • Knowledge of WWTP Operations will be considered an asset.
  • A minimum Class I WWT Operator Certification in accordance with ON REG. 129/04; will need to be obtained within specified period.
  • Must possess strong computer skills; Microsoft excel, word, outlook email.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, decision making and organizational skills.

The City of Cornwall offers a competitive starting wage of $33.42 per hour, 40 hours per week, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
