Insurance/Payroll Analyst

The City is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Insurance/Payroll Analyst. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, this position will perform two functions. The incumbent will require experience in general and liability insurance matters and in the administration of payroll functions for the Corporation.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge within the area of finance; including, processing and review of payroll, benefits, and pension plans; financial analysis; insurance; risk and/or claims management; with proven analytical, communication, report writing, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Also important is the ability to establish effective working relationships with City staff, the City’s adjuster, lawyers, the general public, and outside agencies. As this position is responsible for the professional administration of private and sensitive information, the role will also require high levels of integrity, trust, and values.

The incumbent must have experience with an ERP accounting software system (preferable MS Dynamics GP) and strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. As part of the interview process selected applicants will be tested in Excel.

As an ideal candidate, you will have a University degree or College diploma in business, commerce, accounting, or finance accompanied by a minimum three (3) years of related experience. Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards who gained this experience in a government environment. Additionally, we would like the candidate to have or be eligible to obtain Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification. Bilingualism in both official languages will be considered an asset.

The City of Cornwall offers of competitive salary starting at $57,566 per year at 35 hours per week. This also includes a comprehensive benefits package.
