
Every four years, voters across Ontario elect a municipal council and school board trustees. The next municipal election for the City of Cornwall will be on October 26, 2026.
Mayor and council:
- Mayor: One to be elected at large
- Councillors: Eight to be elected at large (formerly 10)
School board trustees:
- English Public - Upper Canada District School Board: One to be elected
- English Catholic - Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario: Two to be elected
- French Catholic - Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l'Est ontarien: One to be elected
- French Public - Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario: One to be elected
Key dates
Key election dates include:
- May 1, 2026: Nominations open and third-party registration period begins
- August 21, 2026: Nominations close and the last day to withdraw candidacy
- August 24, 2026: Candidates certified
- October 23, 2026: Third-party registration period ends
- October 26, 2026: Election Day
- November 15, 2026: Term of office begins
- March 26, 2027 (2:00 p.m.): Deadline for filing financial statement and auditor's report
