Corporate Financial Analyst

The Corporation of the City of Cornwall has an opportunity for an energetic individual interested in becoming a member of the Financial Services department in the position of Corporate Financial Analyst.

As a member of the accounting team the Corporate Financial Analyst plays an integral part in analysis and reporting of financial data for the City. The accounting team works closely with internal co-workers and external associates to ensure accuracy of reports and that deadlines are met.

Reporting to the Finance Manager/Deputy Treasurer, the Corporate Financial Analyst will provide timely and accurate financial information, monitor and analyze revenue and expenditure general ledger accounts; analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts; verify AP tender invoices; prepare tender progress payments; create and import fuel, material and vehicle usage, assist with the preparation of the City’s annual budgets and year end audit.  The Corporate Financial Analyst carries out special projects to ensure accuracy of financial information systems and prepares special financial reports as required.  The Corporate Financial Analyst will also process accounts receivable invoice, maintain the invoice filing system and follow up on non-payments when required.  This position will work in collaboration with all City Departments.

Applicants must have at least three years proven financial and accounting experience preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.  Your experience must be supported by a minimum three year post secondary diploma in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent.  Must have a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and advanced skills in the use of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). The City Microsoft Dynamics GP as its accounting system.  As part of the interview process selected applicants will be tested in Excel.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, be well organized with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently. 

The City offers a competitive starting wage of $32.65 per hour, 35 hours per week plus a comprehensive benefits package for this position.
