 City of Cornwall's departments

The City of Cornwall is organized into departments:

  • Department of Human Resources: Staff manage employee recruitment and engagement, benefits, pension, labour relations and performance management.
  • Department of Financial Services: Staff provide financial reporting systems, policies, and procedures, payroll, services and support to other City departments and external entities in order to ensure the City's operations are effectively managed. Staff provide advice on financial matters to the Mayor, Council, and city managers.
  • Department of Planning, Development & Recreation: Staff are charged with overseeing the City's parks, recreation facilities and programs, as well as ensuring development occurs in a positive fashion.
  • Department of Infrastructure & Municipal Works: Staff maintain and update the City of Cornwall's diversified infrastructure, including roadways and sewer and water lines.
  • Cornwall Fire Services: The City of Cornwall is protected by a force of 56 firefighters, three fire preventions officers, a training officer, and a fire department mechanic, supported by day staff. Staff are trained to efficiently handle rescues at accident scenes, explosions, floods, hazardous material incidents, and water and ice water rescues.
  • Cornwall SDG Paramedics Services: Staff provide 24-hour, 365-day emergency coverage to over 111,000 residents and visitors in Cornwall and the Counties.
  • Human Services Department: Staff administer programs for Ontario Works, Children's Services as well as Housing Programs and Housing Services.
  • Glen Stor Dun Lodge: Staff provide dietary, housekeeping, laundry, medical, recreation, religious and spiritual services to more than 100 residents.
  • Clerk's Division: Staff are the glue that bind the City together, performing administrative functions such as preparing Council agendas, minutes, bylaws, resolutions, and legal functions, as well as performing civil marriage ceremonies.
  • Economic Development: Staff assist new and existing manufacturing and commercial businesses locate or expand in the City. Staff provide detailed and current information to companies wanting to make informed decisions on site selection.
