The City of Cornwall confirms that the 2026 General Taxation and Water/Wastewater Budgets have been officially adopted.
On January 12, 2026, Mayor Justin Towndale opted to not exercise his Strong Mayor Powers and not veto the amendment passed by Council at the January 7, 2026 Special Budget Meeting. As a result, the 2026 Budget is now in effect.

On the afternoon of January 13, 2026, Cornwall Fire Services responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of 13th Street. Upon arrival, crews discovered a single detached car garage fully involved with heavy smoke and flames.

On June 2nd, 2023, Cornwall Fire Services (CFS) responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of Guy St. CFS responded to the incident quickly and was able to contain the fire and prevent significant damage to neighbouring properties.
