Proof of Vaccination at City Recreation Facilities

Posted On Tuesday September 21, 2021

On September 22, the Province of Ontario’s proof of vaccination requirements take effect.

This means that residents looking to enter the Aquatic Centre, Benson Centre, or Civic Complex must show proof that they have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Requiring proof of vaccination will:

  • Help increase vaccination rates,
  • Protect individuals in higher-risk indoor settings, and
  • Keep businesses open

You can read the City of Cornwall’s proof of vaccination policy here.

“Staff will be enforcing this mandate in our recreation facilities,” said Mayor Glen Grant. “We know there will be people who don’t agree with this approach. Please remember: City staff must be treated with respect. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Members of committees who meet at the Civic Complex will also need to show proof of vaccination. Committee members with questions may wish to reach out to their chair.

City recreation facilities are currently offering a full slate of activities, including swimming lessons, public swims, skate sessions, and more.

Outdoor facilities remain open to unvaccinated residents, including 42 parks featuring walking trails and playgrounds.

Vaccine clinics are offered every weekday in Cornwall, and regularly in other Eastern Ontario communities. Find the next Eastern Ontario Health Unit COVID-19 vaccine clinic.
