Service disruptions — Family Day 2025

Family Day Service Disruptions and Activities

Please be advised that on Family Day, Monday, February 17, the following changes to City services will apply:

• City Offices: All municipal offices will be closed.
• Waste Collection: Garbage and recycling services will be delayed by one day. If your collection is typically on Monday, it will occur on Tuesday this week, and similarly for subsequent days. The landfill will also be closed on February 17. For further details, please refer to the waste calendar.

• Cornwall Transit: There will be no transit service on Family Day, and transit offices will be closed.

Indoor Activities          

Several indoor activities are available throughout Family Day:

Civic Complex:

• Pancake Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Salon B, sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall.
• Public Skate: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ed Lumley Arena, sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall.

Aquatic Centre:

The Aquatic Centre front desk will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering both free and paid swim sessions.

• Leisure Swim: 1:00 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. (sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall).
• Leisure Swim: 2:00 p.m. to 2:55 p.m. (sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall).
• Leisure Swim: 7:05 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (paid swim)

Benson Centre:

The Benson Centre will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with skating opportunities for all ages.

• Stick & Puck: 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (13+), Pad 1.
• Stick & Puck: 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (3-12 years with guardian), Pad 3.
• Public Skating: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Pad 2.
• Senior Skate: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Pad 1.

Cornwall Public Library Activities

The Cornwall Public Library will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All programs are free, and no registration is required.

• Blackout Poetry: Family Edition – Kick off the day at 9:30 a.m. with this unique form of poetry, where you’ll recycle another written work by blacking out all text except for a few selected words.

• Family Craft: Scrabble Names – At 10:30 a.m., create a beautiful piece of art using Scrabble tiles, perfect for displaying in your home!

• Puppet Show – Don’t miss this delightful performance at 11:30 a.m. for all ages. Stick around for the Family Day movie featuring Onward at 12:30 p.m.

• Family Day Movie “Onward – At 12:30 p.m., enjoy the heartwarming movie Onward, perfect for the whole family.

• Family Cartooning – At 2:00 p.m., explore your creative side and have fun making cartoons in this artistic session.

• Board & Card Games – At 3:00 p.m., join in for a variety of board and card games to round off a fun-filled day!
