Launch of Inclusive Playground Survey

The City of Cornwall, along with Dr. Rachel Navaneelan, is currently working on creating a new inclusive and barrier-free playground in Cornwall.

To do so, a new survey has been launched on the City of Cornwall’s Have your Say platform. Residents are encouraged to visit https://haveyoursaycornwall.ca/inclusive-park-survey-consultation and fill out the short survey.

The United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes that engaging in play and recreational activities is a fundamental right.

“Every child should have the opportunity to be just that – a child,” said Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale. “The City of Cornwall welcomes this community led initiative to create an inclusive place for all of our children.”

During the City of Cornwall’s February 27 Council meeting, Dr. Navaneelan told council that her charity — Rachel’s Kids — would donate all the playground’s equipment.

“This is going to need a team effort and here is how you can help,” she said. “We want ideas and feedback from residents like you. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey and help us as we work on this exciting project.”

“We want to create a place where all children of all abilities can play, learn and have fun.”
