Posted On Wednesday October 08, 2025

Cornwall Fire Services is thrilled to announce a Public Open House at the new Fire Headquarters on Saturday, October 18, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Residents will have a special chance to visit the new facility, meet Cornwall’s firefighters and staff, and learn more about the vital services that protect the community.

Responding to overwhelming public interest, the open house will feature a variety of interactive activities, information booths, fire safety demonstrations, fun giveaways, and hands-on exploration of fire trucks and equipment. Families and children are especially encouraged to attend and participate in these engaging activities designed to educate and inspire future community leaders.

The event is proudly held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week 2025, themed “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” This year’s focus will highlight the importance of safe use, charging, and disposal of lithium-ion batteries, essential components in many household devices. Attendees will have access to educational materials and safety tips to help keep their homes and families secure.

“This is a special moment for our community, and we are excited to welcome everyone to explore the facility, meet our dedicated firefighters, and learn about fire safety,” said Matthew Stephenson, Deputy CAO/Fire Chief. “Our new headquarters not only enhances our ability to serve but also stands as a testament to our commitment to public safety. We are particularly thrilled to align this event close to Fire Prevention Week.”

Several partner agencies will also be in attendance, including Ornge Land Ambulance, Cornwall SDG Paramedic Services, Akwesasne Fire Department, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Their participation will showcase the collaborative efforts of Cornwall’s emergency services and offer a comprehensive perspective on public safety in action.
