Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB) Application Now Open
The Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB) is a federal-provincial housing allowance program aimed at increasing the affordability of rental housing. The program provides income-tested, Portable Housing Benefit (PHB) payments directly to eligible households in housing need.
Required Documents for Application
- Identification for each household member (e.g., Driver’s License, Birth Certificate, etc.)
- Social Insurance Number
- Bank statements (recent 2 months) for all bank accounts from each household member
- Proof of current income (2 months) for each household member (e.g., paystubs)
- Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada for the most recent taxation year for each adult household member (2024)
- Rental Agreement
- Void cheque or direct deposit form
- Funding is limited; applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis.
- Only applications with all supporting documentation will be accepted.
- The Pre-Determination form is available online on the City of Cornwall website or in person at 340 Pitt Street, 4th Floor.
