City of Cornwall Reports Significant Progress on Strategic Priorities in Six-Month Update

The City of Cornwall is pleased to announce progress on its strategic priorities, as presented in a comprehensive six-month update to Council during the regular meeting held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. The report details major achievements under the four foundational pillars approved by Council in January 2024, demonstrating the municipality’s ongoing commitment to building a vibrant, sustainable, and resilient community.

The update highlights advancements across the following Strategic Pillars: Housing for All, Community Connections, Achieving Net-Zero by 2050, and Cornwall – Future Ready. These pillars serve as the guiding framework for municipal action and long-term planning, ensuring responsible stewardship and an enhanced quality of life for all residents.

“Cornwall continues to demonstrate leadership and vision in advancing the strategic priorities,” said Katherine Wells, Director of Communications, Government Relations and Strategic Planning. “These achievements reflect our steadfast commitment to meaningful progress, collaboration, and meeting the long-term needs of residents.”

The City of Cornwall’s six-month strategic update shows strong progress in important areas. The City is making real improvements in housing, connecting with the community, protecting the environment, and getting ready for future growth. These actions prove Cornwall is dedicated to building a dynamic and strong community for everyone.

Updates include:

  • Ongoing development of the Pitt Street housing project and the launch of a 160-unit residential build at 910 Montreal Road, addressing a range of housing needs.
  • The successful awarding of the Massey Commons tender in May and progress on a new 128-bed long-term care facility.
  • Launch of the Arts, Culture and Public Art Strategy, alongside major upgrades to the Civic Complex and recreation facilities like Mattice and Alexander Park.
  • Successful diversion of 3,107 tonnes of organics through the green bin program, with a 42.4% curbside diversion rate achieved this year.
  • Expansion of the Cornwall Business Park, unlocking over 200 acres for future development and economic growth.
