City of Cornwall Celebrates Completion of Municipal Works Multi-Use Garage and Administration Building
The City of Cornwall marked a significant milestone today with the official ribbon cutting for the newly completed Municipal Works Multi-Use Garage and Administration Building, located on Ontario Street. These projects mark key components of the ongoing Municipal Works Yard redevelopment initiative, which launched in 2016 with a comprehensive environmental assessment. It is designed to meet the city's service needs for decades to come, the initiative will continue with additional phases in the coming years.
Phase One was finished in 2021, introducing a new salt storage facility, upgraded site servicing, utility relocations, a dedicated employee parking lot, and a noise barrier wall along the west property line. The current phase includes the construction of the state-of-the-art Administration Building and Garage/Multi-use Building, the creation of visitor parking and site services, as well as the demolition of outdated infrastructure and additional noise barriers along the southern and eastern boundaries. Remaining redevelopment work for the Municipal Works Yard will be completed in future phases.
The Administration Building, completed earlier this year, is a net-zero ready facility that exemplifies Cornwall’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The newly finished Garage/Multi-use Building replaces aging structures, consolidating multiple departments under one roof for improved efficiency.
“The Municipal Works Yard is more than just bricks and mortar,” said Emma Vanier, Manager of Infrastructure. “It represents Cornwall’s dedication to service excellence, sustainability, and community well-being.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony brought together city officials and project partners to celebrate this major step forward. The new Multi-use Garage and Administration Building stand ready to support Cornwall’s growth and evolving needs.
