Hazardous Waste Depot Opens in July

Posted On Tuesday June 23, 2020

The Household Hazardous Waste Depot is now ready to open with COVID-19 precautions in place.

The depot at 2590 Cornwall Centre Road will be open…

  • Wednesdays in July: 8, 15, 22, and 29
  • Saturdays in July: 11, 18, and 25
  • Wednesdays in August: 5, 12, 19, and 26
  • Saturdays in August: 8, 15, and 22

Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays.

What to expect:

  • Lineups will likely be longer than normal. If possible, please wait until later in the season.
  • All items must be placed in the trunk – not the back seat.
  • Residents must remain in their vehicles at all times. Please communicate with staff through the vehicle’s window.
  • There will be no free paint pick-up (the paint reuse depot is closed).
  • Oil and gas containers will not be returned.
  • There will be no washroom access.
  • Residents should not attend the depot if they are feeling unwell. Where possible, they should wear a mask.

“We are pleased to be able to safely re-open this service after keeping the depot closed this spring due to COVID-19,” said Dave Kuhn, Acting Waste Management Supervisor. “We are grateful for everyone’s patience as the depot’s contractor manages the expected longer lineups.”

If you are unsure of whether your waste should be brought to the depot, try the Recycle Coach app.
