Temporary Rent Relief Assistance Program

Tenants in Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry can now apply for temporary rent relief.

Eligible tenants can receive up to 70% of their total rent, paid directly to their landlords, from July to December this year.

What you should know before you apply:

  • Funding will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Both tenants and landlords will need to complete a section of the form.
  • Household liquid assets (like cash, bank accounts, investments that can be easily converted to cash) must not exceed $40,000.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please include, for every household member: identification, two months of bank statements, proof of income, and 2020 Notice of Assessment.

Maximum household income limits:

  • 1 bedroom: $39,600
  • 2 bedrooms: $47,400
  • 3 or more bedrooms: $52,200

Maximum rent payable by tenant:

  • 1 bedroom: $1,036
  • 2 bedrooms: $1,309
  • 3 or more bedrooms: $1,791

“This program will help support, stabilize, and secure housing needs for members of our community who are impacted by COVID-19,” said Meena Mullur, Housing Program Supervisor. “We know the pandemic has affected residents’ income. This program will pay up to 70% of tenants’ rent, directly to their landlord, for the months of July to December.”
