Two Bag or One Can Limit Starts April 5

Posted On Wednesday March 31, 2021

Starting April 5, bag limits are changing to two bags or one can per household per week.

City staff can help you reduce your waste! Message them on Facebook, email wm@cornwall.ca or call 613-937-1777.

Residents who want to set out more than two bags can purchase bag tags. Tags are $15 for a sheet of 10. They’re for sale at:

  • City Hall - 360 Pitt Street
  • the landfill - 2590 Cornwall Centre Road
  • Pop Shoppe - 101 Emma Avenue
  • Short Line Convenience - 1300 Second Street West
  • Fence Depot - 3045 Pitt Street
  • TAS Convenience - 1001 Montreal Road
  • Fullerton Drugs - 170 Pitt Street
  • MacEwen's - 1030 McConnell Avenue
  • MacEwen's - 201 Second Street West

The City recently released a list of plastic items that can be recycled. These items should be bagged together in the recycling bin: grocery bags (except black), bread/bun bags, produce bags, milk bags, clean cling wrap, sandwich bags, dry cleaner bags, apple/carrot bags, newspaper bags, cereal box liners, and air bags from delivery boxes (with air removed).

Residents can reduce their waste by:

  • Reducing the amount of items they buy with excessive packaging,
  • Reusing items or donating them,
  • Recycling with help from the Recycle Coach app.

Remember these special collections starting soon:

Residents who see litter or dumping should report it to the Parks division at 613-930-2787 ext. 2282.
