Cornwall Gives A Shirt 2020

Posted On Thursday October 01, 2020

Waste Reduction Week is October 19 to 23. The City of Cornwall is hosting a community-wide textile collection that week, called Cornwall Gives A Shirt!

Set out bags of gently used clothing, linens, and footwear on your regular collection day the week of October 19 to 23. Be sure to mark these bags with a large and clear sign marked with “Cornwall Gives A Shirt.”

To get an “I Give A Shirt” sign, download the PDF below.

Two new elements are being added to the program this year:

  1. Residents can bring their textiles/clothing directly to the landfill for free,
  2. And residents can set out bags of well-worn clothing – items that cannot be reused - and label them “clothes for recycling.”

Volunteers will collect the bags and donate them to one of three local thrift stores:

  • Monday: Serendipity Boutique  (and Value Village if the Boutique runs out of storage space)
  • Tuesday: New for You (Agape Centre)
  • Wednesday: New for You (Agape Centre)
  • Thursday: Salvation Army Thrift Store
  • Friday: Salvation Army Thrift Store

2018 diversion : 5,000 pounds

2019 diversion : 7,100 pounds

2020 diversion : that’s up to you!
