New Parking Permits Now Available

Posted On Tuesday November 09, 2021

The City of Cornwall is now offering 24-hour and day-use parking permits, as well as a new overnight parking service.

Use this interactive map to discover parking options.

Overnight parking service

The new overnight service offers parking at municipal lots from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. any day of the week. The fee is $3 and can be paid using the WaytoPark app or Pay-by-Plate machine.

Overnight parking is permitted in the Warrington Brown parking lot (behind Kastner’s at 39 First Street East) and in Freddy's lot (east of the Cornwall Police Service building at 342 Montreal Road). Users should be sure they park in designated stalls.

This service is available starting November 15, 2021.

24-hour parking permits

These new permits offer 24-hour parking in locations across the City. Please look for signage in municipal parking lots or use the interactive map.

Permits cost $50 for a half-month, $80 for one month, $200 for three months, $350 for six months, and $650 for one year. They can be purchased online.

Residents can begin purchasing 24-hour permits now, for use starting November 15, 2021.

After a significant snow event, permitted vehicles will need to move from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to accommodate snow removal. For full details, call the Parking Clerk at 613-930-2787 ext. 2225 or visit our website.

Day-use parking permits

Day-use parking permits are valid from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be used at all 15 municipal parking lots. See interactive map for details.

Permits cost $30 for a half-month, $50 for one month, $140 for three months, $270 for six months, and $525 for one year. They can be purchased online.

“The new overnight service and 24-hour permits offer a much-needed option for residents and visitors in Cornwall,” said Mark Boileau, General Manager of Planning, Development, and Recreation. “We expect folks will take advantage of these when winter parking restrictions are in effect, when visiting friends and family in Cornwall, or when taking public transit home after a night out.”

The introduction of permits is part of a multi-phase improvement of Cornwall’s parking plan. In October, the two-hour complimentary parking program ended, and 15-minute free stalls were introduced downtown and in Le Village.

More parking program changes are still to come:

  • additional public parking stalls downtown and in the Cotton Mills area
  • additional pay-by-plate machines,
  • parking fee increase to $1.50 per hour.
