Household Hazardous Waste Depot Opens for Season

The household hazardous waste depot has opened for the season.

Residents should be aware of the COVID-19 restrictions before they attend the depot:

  • Residents must remain in their vehicle. Wear a mask, and talk to staff through the window.
  • Staff will remove items directly from trunk – not the back seat.
  • No washroom facilities are available.
  • The paint reuse depot is closed.
  • Containers will not be returned.
  • Residents should not go to the depot if they have COVID-19 symptoms, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, or have COVID-19.

The household hazardous waste depot is at 2590 Cornwall Centre Road on the landfill site. Turn right immediately upon entering the landfill site – do not go through the weigh scale.

Wednesday hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 7:30 a.m. to noon. Here are the opening dates for 2021:

  • April 14, 17, 28
  • May 1, 12, 15, 26, 29
  • June 9, 12, 23, 26
  • July 7, 10, 21, 24
  • August 11, 14, 25, 28
  • September 8, 11, 22, 25
  • October 6, 9, 20, 23
  • November 10, 13, 24, 27

Accepted materials include:

  • Paint: Latex & oil-based
  • Corrosive: Vehicle batteries, drain cleaners
  • Flammable: Lighter fluid, turpentine, gasoline, used oil
  • Toxic: Poisons, bleach, pesticides, paints, cleaning fluids, antifreeze, full or partially full aerosol cans
  • Electronic Waste: Computers, keyboards, monitors, televisions (no wooden console).
  • Light bulbs: Fluorescent tubes, CFL ("curly" type), incandescent light bulbs, halogen bulbs, ballasts (non-pcb), etc.
  • Other items: Oil filters, empty oil containers, reusable and single-use batteries (please keep separate), smoke detectors
