Playing Safely in Red-Control

Posted On Tuesday March 30, 2021

Red-Control guidelines will impact how you and your family can safely play in City of Cornwall facilities.

At the Aquatic Centre, there are no major changes. Please continue to book public swims ahead of time.

The Civic Complex arena and walking track remain closed.

At the Benson Centre, keep these changes in mind:

  • No games or scrimmages are permitted on the ice or in the fieldhouse.
  • The tennis/pickleball/badminton court is closed.
  • Ten walkers are permitted in the fieldhouse at one time. Call ahead to book your time at 613-938-9898 ext. 0. Walking is available Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to noon.

Parks are open. Outdoor facilities like tennis, basketball, and ball hockey courts will be able to open earlier than usual. Staff are currently cleaning the courts and addressing any maintenance issues. Please remember to:

  • Keep your distance from other park users,
  • Wash or sanitize your hands before and after visiting a park,
  • Wear a mask,
  • Try a different play structure if a park is busy, and
  • Stay home if you’re feeling sick.

City of Cornwall offices, including City Hall, the second floor of the Civic Complex, Cornwall Transit and Municipal Works remain open. The landfill is also open.

City staff continue to support COVID-19 vaccine clinics in the region. Cornwall Transit is offering free rides to and from vaccine appointments. Residents should call the Eastern Ontario Health Unit directly if they have questions: 1-800-267-7120. To book a vaccine appointment, call 1-833-943-3900.
