Wish Upon A Medic supports Chesterville family

On June 1, a six-year-old boy suffered an amputated foot due to a lawn mower incident in Chesterville.

Cornwall SDG Paramedics and Prescott-Russell Paramedics provided pre-hospital care until ORNGE air ambulance arrived and transported the child to CHEO.  The Grade 1 student has since left the hospital and returned to school.

Cornwall SDG Paramedics were invited to attend a community fundraiser event on June 15 to support the patient’s family. Nathan Bols, Camille Leclerc, Commander Pascale Ricard, and Sophie Tasse, along with Prescott-Russell Paramedic Carl Surprenant, met with the young boy at that event.

The Paramedic Union donated $200, and Wish Upon A Medic donated $2,000.

Wish Upon A Medic, started in 2015 by Cornwall SDG Paramedic Sophie Tasse, is a volunteer-led charity that focuses on supporting children with disease or injury. The goal of Wish Upon A Medic is to ease the financial burden encountered by families as children adapt to the challenges of treatment and recovery.

“When we were made aware of the fundraiser, we were eager to participate,” said Tasse. “This was a great opportunity to partner with one of the communities where we work and live to make a difference.”
